Anticoagulants (blood thinners)
Anticoagulants, colloquially blood thinners, inhibit blood clotting. They are prescribed, for example, for atrial fibrillation, after thrombosis, heart attack or stroke. In a broader sense, antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin also belong to this group.
Why does this matter to us?
Even a tiny injury – for example when trimming an ingrown nail or removing callus – can bleed for longer when taking blood thinners. That is why we always ask about medication when taking your history and work particularly carefully if necessary.
Please note
- Tell us which medicines you take – ideally with your medication plan.
- Never stop blood thinners on your own for a foot treatment.
- When treating your feet at home, do not use blades, planes or pointed scissors.
